Happy Birthday To My Little Boy!

It is hard to believe that my little boy turned 4 today! I can still remember taking this picture (and yes that is my left hand in the picture....photography involves juggling too!) and creating this birth annoucement when he was only a week old. How time flies but I Thank God everyday for having him in my life! Happy Birthday to my little guy!

Happy Father's Day!

I know I only have a few more hours left before Father's Day ends for 2009 but I wanted to wish my wonderful husband along with all those great father's out there a Blessed and Happy Father's Day!

Senior Session at "The Island"

I think I've mentioned before that living in this area is pretty darn cool because we are so close to the beautiful mountains. We are also lucky to have our gorgeous rivers so close by too! This senior session was originally planned for another location but I was glad that we changed it to The Island (no, not the waterpark). This particular area is a great place to live! Almost all of the homes have a great view of the mountains and some homes even have an awesome stream that is fed from the river in their backyards! Like I said, we were orginally going to shoot at another location but luckily this senior's grandmother hooked us up with her neighborhood for a great shooting location! We got some beautiful shots of this senior with great landscapes! Here are just a few!

Rockabilly Senior Session

During consultations I have been asked a lot of questions before but one really great question I have been asked is, "What happens to my session in case you get sick?" I think as a professional photographer, you should ALWAYS have a backup plan just in case. After thirteen years of shooting, I can honestly say that I have never had to use my "backup plan" before until this past weekend. I am not necessarily ill at the moment but I am currently expecting my second baby. Once I heard this weekend's weather was gonna be well over the 100's, I figured my pregnancy and the hot temperatures would not make a great combination. So I asked my photography "sensei" and friend to come out of retirement this past weekend and help me out and I sure am glad he did!

This senior session has been in the planning for a little while now and am glad that we were able to get it done for her! I have to admit during this entire session I had some cool rockabilly music like Charlie Sexton's Graceland playing secretly in my head. I totally enjoyed the whole ambiance of this session....the clothes, the hair, the makeup, the old truck....the entire package of this session was nothing but sheer coolness which was great to have on such a hot day! Time Sure Flies!

You know even though I am now in the over thirty age category, I don't always feel my age. However, when I can remember being at family functions and seeing little kids running around and now being asked to shoot these same kids high school senior session, I have to admit I start to feel my age just a bit! Still, I was more than happy to get a call from my cousin asking me to shoot her son's high school senior session. We had a good time early last Saturday morning catching up and shooting photos! Here are just a few from this session! Enjoy!

Spending Saturday with a Senior

I think I've mentioned before that my professional formal training in photography first started with high school senior portraits almost 13 years ago to the day. At that time I was fresh out of high school myself but was ready for the challenge of learning how to shoot portraits professionally. That first senior season, I don't even know how many seniors I shot that summer but what I do remember was enjoying going to work every day! Thirteen years later, I still find myself enjoying going to work and shooting portraits. What an amazing job I have!! What helps me enjoy my job more is all the great people I get to meet with this profession.
This particular senior was awesome to work with! Though she mentioned to me that it was weird to smile that much, you could have never guessed she felt that way by looking at the pictures. She just has one of those beautiful natural smiles that photographs so well! Not to mention those eyes of hers are gorgeous!! She definitely made my job very easy to do. I had lots of fun strolling through the park shooting and chatting with her and her mom....two awesome people that I very much enjoyed meeting! I had a lot of favorites from this session but here are just a few! Enjoy!
